CARD 261 Clinical Practicum II
The purpose of this course is for students to perform the duties of a Cardiovascular Technologist in a hospital clinical environment. Students will demonstrate professional attributes of a Cardiovascular Technologist. The student will perform the scrub and monitor role during cardiac procedures ensuring patient safety with radiation administration, sterility and knowledge of procedure equipment and flow.

30 hours weekly for 15 weeks
Course Objectives
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain medical and surgical asepsis in a hospital setting.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate with patients and collaborate with other health care team members.
- Perform the scrub role during cardiovascular procedures in a hospital setting including interventions.
- Demonstrate the ability to participate in peripheral and/or EP cases including identifying and selecting proper equipment for specific procedures and maintaining sterility.
- Operate fluoroscopic x-ray machine ensuring staff and patient safety and proper patient positioning.
- Respond properly to patient emergencies that occur during cardiovascular procedures including applying oxygen.
