CARD 222 Advanced Intravascular Interventional Procedures
The purpose of this class is to prepare the student to enter the Invasive Peripheral and Pediatric Laboratory. The student will learn the concepts of the general diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures performed in the modern adult invasive peripheral laboratory and pediatric laboratory.

4 hours a week for 7 weeks
Course Objectives
- Describe the equipment needed, indications, contraindications, and complications of peripheral invasive procedures.
- Describe pre- and post-procedural care for peripheral procedures.
- Identify the structure and function of peripheral arterial and venous circulation.
- Discuss the treatment of peripheral vascular diseases including interventions.
- Describe the different types of supportive devices used for peripheral disease.
- Describe the procedures to diagnose and treat congenital cardiac abnormalities while comparing pediatric and adult catheterization techniques.
