ENGL 211 Science Through Science Fiction
This course synthesizes the scientific influences on the literature of Science Fiction. Students also discuss historical backgrounds, philosophical and psychological interpretations, and ethical underpinnings of the works. Texts may include several genres, including the novel, non-fiction, and the short story.

- Identify and apply appropriate literary terminology and literary criticism (perspectives) in order to evaluate and analyze ideas within science fiction texts.
- Generate ideas, explore possibilities, and consider economic, historical, political, and cultural issues in literature.
- Use evidence from literary texts and secondary texts for effective literary analysis.
- Analyze how literature reflects human values and thus has relevance to today's world.
