MUSC 144 Chamber Singers IV (Major Ensemble)

Each ensemble offers performance-oriented exposure to both traditional and contemporary styles in its genre. Special attention will be given to those musicianship skills which are crucial to effective ensemble performance.

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Perform ensemble repertoire ranging from traditional to contemporary styles.
  2. 2. Demonstrate, in performance, knowledge of the musical adjustments required by different composers
    and styles.
  3. 3. Demonstrate technical proficiency on his/her instrument or voice.
  4. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of ensemble performance including: balance, blend, dynamics, and
    precision.
  5. 5. Demonstrate an understanding of interpretation including: phrasing, style and nuance.
  6. 6. Demonstrate an understanding of individual responsibility to the whole through regular class attendance,
    learning music in a timely manner, and proper behavior during rehearsals.
