Human Services - A.A. Degree (Transfer)

AN ARTS AND SCIENCES AREA OF CONCENTRATION

APPLICATION CODE 170

For curriculum information, contact the Division of Liberal Studies—Room AC-230—443-518-1620.

This area of study is designed to provide the necessary theoretical and practical skills required for entry-level human service workers in community settings such as: hospitals, mental health centers, social service agencies, substance abuse counseling sites, and gerontology centers. It is also applicable for those currently working in the field, intending to upgrade their knowledge and skills. The curriculum is intended to expose students to a broad range of issues and topics impacting today's human service professionals and the individuals they serve in order to prepare students to function in a variety of health and social services positions. The area of study also provides preparation for transfer to four-year schools. The student may choose from three tracks: human services track, (this multidisciplinary track allows the greatest flexibility and transferability), chemical dependency track (consult Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists in Maryland for CSC-AD requirements) and aging services.
