RADT 108 Introduction to Clinical Radiography

This course is an observational clinical rotation with skills lab component, and it is complementary to Introduction to Radiology and Patient care. In this course, students will be introduced to site-specific protocol, equipment, workflow and patient history taking skills. Students will practice in skills lab and observe radiologic technologists providing patient care and producing radiographic images in clinical settings. Students will manipulate radiographic imaging equipment in skills, take patient history, and assist during patient transfer.

Admission to the Radiologic Technology program or permission of program director. Pre- or corequisite: BIOL 101/101L or BIOL 107/107L, and ENGL 121

Course Objectives

  1. Demonstrate basic skills of radiographic equipment manipulations and workflow.
  2. Prepare radiographic room and illustrate the purpose of radiographic accessories utilized for image production, patient positioning, radiation protection, infection control, and patient transfer.
  3. Prepare accurate and complete patient clinical history.
  4. Apply patient privacy and confidentiality requirements.
