HMDV 106 Silas Craft Collegians Seminar II

This course is a special, one-credit seminar specifically designed for students enrolled in the Silas Craft Collegians Program. The purpose of this course is to continue the college acclimation process of first-year students by way of interactive course material which supports the foundational development of academic resilience, personal motivation, cultural competence, and critical thinking skills.

Course Objectives

  1. Develop and manage a personal plan for college success which identifies specific goals, objectives, and support systems.
  2. Identify and articulate the student's individual sources of motivation for academic and personal success.
  3. Understand and apply the principles of group dynamics and cultural awareness when working in non-homogenous groups to achieve a common goal.
  4. Reflect critically on areas of individual strength and opportunities for growth pursuant to group projects and leadership development opportunities.
  5. Seek leadership opportunities confidently within the campus and community.
