AVMP 150 Introduction to Electronic Media

Previously TVRD 129 and TVRD 220. This course examines film and electronic media from the perspective of the modern media professional. Students will explore and discuss electronic media’s ties to technology, aesthetics, and culture, throughout history and into the future.

Course Objectives

  1. Identify how electronic media and film in America are socially, historically, technically, politically, legally, and economically significant.
  2. Demonstrate critical thinking in relation to electronic films and media by forming and expressing opinions and criticisms of issues in contemporary media.
  3. Analyze and evaluate critical theories and concepts related to issues of aesthetics, creativity, and invention in electronic media.
  4. Apply information and ideas related to electronic media within differing types of media contexts.
  5. Identify and select the appropriate media tools and to convey messages through differing forms of media.
  6. Demonstrate the effective understanding and use of audio and video tools for creating and conveying media messages through audio and video content.
  7. Demonstrate clear communication and collaboration using audio/video technology and creating audio/video content.
