ARTS 220 Photography: Digital I

This course allows students to pursue artistic goals and explore fine art and commercial photography applications.  Students learn basic digital camera operation, exposure, lighting and post-production techniques, subject development, and composition.  A DSLR or compact camera with manual capabilities and a tripod are required.

Course Objectives

  1. Use a digital camera to demonstrate competencies in photography.
  2. Apply basic photo-editing techniques for image refinement.
  3. Apply the basic lighting and exposure principles to enhance image quality.
  4. Identify and apply the elements of photographic composition to the images created.
  5. Generate personal goals, compile ideas, and utilize subject development in the creation of photographic work.
