Transfer & Visiting Student Application Procedures

To be considered for financial assistance at HCC as a transfer student, students must complete the following:

  • Update the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with HCC's federal school code (008175) at www.studentaid.gov, if applicable.
  • Add HCC or update the semester enrollment information on MDCAPS, if the student is a state scholarship recipient.
  • Notify current school of transfer, and request to cancel all financial aid and outstanding loan requests, if applicable.

Important Note: Students are only eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant at one college/university during a single term. Scholarship and loan eligibility is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and based on program eligibility criteria and federal regulations.

Visiting Students
Students who are enrolling at HCC for a term or semester, and planning to return to their home school to complete their certificate or degree (visiting students) must have their financial aid processed through their home school under a "consortium agreement". The "agreement" is required by federal law and states that the home school will consider the student's enrollment at the host school to determine their aid eligibility.

Please Note: HCC will cancel all aid for any students found receiving financial aid concurrently at HCC and another school.
