EDUC 192 Field Experience in Education

This is a field-based course that provides the opportunity to apply the theories and methods learned regarding best practices for teaching and learning. Students will analyze a variety of learner characteristics that influence student development and achievement.

Prerequisite

This course is only available to students who have successfully completed the equivalent of either EDUC 110, EDUC 130, EDUC 200, EDUC 260, or EDUC 267 at another higher education institution but who have not completed 15 hours of field experience as part of that course. Additionally, permission of the Department Chair for Teacher Education is required in order to enroll in the course.

Course Objectives

  1. Explain the varied aspects of teaching, including the knowledge and skill characteristics of effective teachers, to become aware of the current realities in today’s classrooms.
  2. Describe how exceptionalities, individual differences, culture and diversity, and experiences affect equity, teaching, and schools including the impact on growth and development, schooling, student performance, and success.
