THET 135 Stagecraft

This course will allow students to gain knowledge in the main disciplines of theatre, including scenery, lighting and projection, costume and makeup, sound, stage management, and properties. Safe operation of power tools and back stage machinery, lighting equipment, and audio equipment are also covered.

Course Objectives

  1. Identify and select the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials to create theatrical productions.
  2. Demonstrate the effective understanding and use of theatre technology tools, equipment, and materials.
  3. Demonstrate clear communication and collaboration using theatre technology skills while preparing and constructing scenery.
  4. Identify and describe major changes and innovations in technology with all aspects of theatre.
  5. Engage and facilitate the process for creating theatrical productions by demonstrating an understanding of theatre technology, and selecting and utilizing appropriate tools and materials.
  6. Demonstrate safety in using theatre technology through understanding of safety guidelines and procedures for theatre technology and materials.
