Previously MUSC 194. Class Piano II will be a continuation of Class Piano I.

Course Objectives

  1. Recognize and play any treble or bass clef note.
  2. Correctly perform rhythm patterns which include note values as low as a 16th note.
  3. Perform simple piano repertoire.
  4. Build all 12 major pentachords.
  5. Recognize any key signature.
  6. Improvise a melody over a simple chord progression.
  7. Harmonize a melody using chord symbols.
  8. Sight read a simple two-part excerpt.
  9. Explain the difference between 6/8 and 4/4 time.
  10. Demonstrate correct piano technique with regard to hand position, fingering, and posture.
