RADT 238 Clinical Radiography III
In this course, students will expand previously acquired skills with emphasis on the application of comprehensive didactic knowledge and demonstration of competence in clinical practice to produce quality images in a competency-based clinical setting. Students will be supervised by registered technologists appropriate to the level of competency. Concepts of radiation protection, patient care, equipment operation, quality control, and image production and evaluation will be reinforced. Students will begin rotating to interventional radiology, trauma imaging, and advanced modalities. Clinical Radiography III is the third clinical education component of the program.
Hours Weekly
24 clinical hours weekly
Course Objectives
- Perform competent radiographic room preparation, delivery of patient instructions, patient positioning, and technical factor determination.
- Apply the principles of radiation protection for the patient, self, and others and discuss methods for reducing patient dose.
- Apply skills to archive and retrieve radiographic images from PACS and track examinations in RIS.
- Evaluate images for acceptable image quality, anatomy, and obvious pathology demonstrated.
- Expand problem-solving/critical thinking skills and determine radiographic positioning modifications necessary based on patient condition and pathology.
