HMDV 260 STEM Seminar III

In STEM Seminar III, topics include mock interviews, resume writing and applying for internships.  Students complete the STRONG Interest Inventory, and research and present on a career of their choice.  Field trips and activities beyond the classroom are also planned. Enrollment is recommended to those with STEM majors.

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Recognize possible career paths as fitting with the student’s individual characteristics as measured by the STRONG survey.
  2. 2. Search for internships in a field of interest, prepare one’s resume, and apply for an internship.
  3. 3. Conduct oneself appropriately in an interview for an internship position.
  4. 4. Use one’s choice of technology to create a presentation for a STEM audience in two parallel career paths that are of interest to the student.
  5. 5. Identify and apply concepts related to issues of creativity, meaning, and invention and demonstrate the use of brainstorming and/or other creative processes to solve problems.
