MECH 105 Industrial Safety
This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to ensure workplace safety, identify and mitigate hazards, and foster a safety-conscious culture. Through a broad range of safety and regulatory compliance sessions, students will gain a strong foundation in industry standards and best practices. As part of the course, students will also have the opportunity to earn the OSHA 10 certification.

A graduate should be able to
- Explain the role of OSHA in the workplace, as well as workers’ rights and employer responsibilities.
- Apply standard workplace safety protocols in compliance with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
- Identify common workplace safety hazards and implement appropriate corrective action to prevent them.
- Select, use, and maintain the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) according to guidelines and regulations.
- Develop and implement emergency action procedures, including evacuation, communication, and incident response.
- Describe strategies that support the development of a safety-oriented workplace culture.
- Apply appropriate strategies of inquiry and exploration to find, evaluate, and use information ethically in the study of industrial safety.
