HUMN 115 Entrepreneurship and Creativity
This course is designed to introduce students to the concept of sustainable entrepreneurship, a manageable process that can be applied across careers and work settings. It focuses on building entrepreneurial attitudes and behaviors that will lead to creative solutions within community and organizational environments. Course topics include the history of entrepreneurship, the role of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs in the 21st century global economy, and the identification of entrepreneurial opportunities. The elements of creative problem-solving, the development of a business concept/model, the examination of feasibility studies, and the social/moral/ethical implications of entrepreneurship are incorporated. This course is directed toward forging views of entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship as they operate in today's world. Credit will only be granted for one of the following: ENTR 100 or HUMN 115.

Course Objectives
- Define entrepreneurship, its relationship to creativity and invention, and its role and impact within the context of society, organizations, and individuals.
- Identify and organize information about a problem that needs to be solved to learn who it affects and how it affects them.
- Identify and apply a variety of creativity-enhancing techniques to analyze and generate multiple innovative solutions to a problem, explore possibilities for a solution, and seek out alternatives to what is currently available.
- Analyze and evaluate the ideas for solutions to a problem, by determining possible outcomes to analyze for risk-reward and market feasibility, to decide on the best opportunity.
- Develop an innovative product or service and apply what one has learned about the situation and the competition to construct a new sustainable business model to introduce this new product or service into the marketplace.
- Communicate and effectively defend a persuasive argument for an innovative product or service that solves a problem in one's own area of interest.
- Demonstrate that entrepreneurial success depends on teamwork and the diversity of viewpoints of others.
- Develop and apply a framework for recognizing, evaluating, and managing the ethical dilemmas and social responsibilities facing entrepreneurs with new venture creation.
