CMSY 256 Linux Server Administration

This course provides the core foundation for supporting Linux. Students will perform system administration tasks, and install and configure a Linux workstation to an existing network. This course will cover preparation for CompTIA Linux+ certification.

Course Objectives

  1. Install Linux.
  2. Use RPM and YUM to maintain software and system updates.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of disk partitions.
  4. Create and maintain a Linux file system.
  5. Set up system security and configure services.
  6. Configure NFS and SMB/Samba for file sharing.
  7. Integrate Linux with an existing TCP/IP network.
