MATH 199 Introduction to MATLAB

This course will expose students to the fundamentals of MATLAB including basic commands, use of variables, solving equations, working with matrices, vectors, and functions, and creating M-files. Students will also use various commands and tools to solve a variety of pre-calculus and calculus problems.

Course Objectives

  1. Use basic commands with ordinary and symbolic variables to solve various problems.
  2. Solve equations that have either symbolic solutions or numerical solutions.
  3. Solve various problems involving matrices and vectors.
  4. Solve calculus problems involving differentiation and integration.
  5. Use the plotting feature to plot multiple functions simultaneously.
  6. Solve various problems using the function capabilities of the software.
  7. Create M-files to solve symbolic, matrix, vector, pre-calculus, and calculus problems.
