DMSU 142 Ultrasound OB/GYN II

This course facilitates normal and abnormal anatomy throughout the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Fetal growth/development, abnormalities, high-risk pregnancies, and maternal disease will be taught in depth along with correlations to the sonographic examinations.

Course Objectives

  1. Define accepted procedures and protocols for all learned gynecology and second/third trimester obstetric sonographic studies.
  2. Recognize equipment knobology to enhance image quality utilizing as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) standards in second/third trimester obstetric sonographic studies.
  3. Interpret and differentiate normal versus abnormal structures in second/third trimester pregnancy ultrasound exams.
  4. Identify fetal abnormalities, congenital malformations, and maternal disease.
