CSCO 292 Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials

This is the second course in a series of three designed to prepare students to sit for the CCNA Exam. The focus of this course is on switching technologies and router operations supporting small to medium enterprise networks including local wired and wireless LANs.  By the end of this course students will be able to configure and troubleshoot basic networks, implement wireless (WLAN) configurations, and identify and mitigate security threats to the local LAN.

Course Objectives

  1. Implement basic device configurations and security on Cisco routers and switches.
  2. Configure and troubleshoot basic operations of a small switched network.
  3. Describe enhanced switching technologies such as VLANs, VTP, STP, and 802.1q.
  4. Configure and verify static and default routing.
  5. Describe and implement WLAN configurations and concepts.
  6. Identify and mitigate security threats to the local LAN.
