HUMN 102 Happiness: A Humanities Approach
This course will examine the concept and study of happiness from a humanities-based perspective, exploring the enduring and contemporary ways in which human beings have defined, sought, attained, and enhanced happiness in their lives. Students will apply their understanding of positive interventions to actions designed to increase their own subjective well-being.

Course Objectives
- Identify and apply critical theories and concepts related to the principles, definitions, strategies, and skills of happiness.
- Generate ideas, explore possibilities, and consider alternatives toward increasing happiness and overall quality of life.
- Analyze and evaluate the roles and value of various concepts such as gratitude, spirituality, flow, altruism, and kindness as they pertain to happiness.
- Apply information and ideas about happiness to understand one's own strengths and virtues.
