ENTR 126 Financial Model and Projections for a Startup

This course is one of a series of courses that provides students with the coaching and guidance to plan for and launch a new business venture. This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, tools, and resources to identify and calculate startup resource requirements, develop financial assumptions, produce pro forma financial statements, and develop a comprehensive financial plan.

Course Objectives

  1. Identify and calculate startup capital resource requirements for the following areas: people, physical assets, financial resources, and intellectual property.
  2. Develop financial assumptions for the following areas: new product/service demand, pricing assumptions, customer acquisition costs, sales revenue forecast, and operational costs.
  3. Produce projected 1-and 3-year financial statements for Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement.
  4. Assess risk by analyzing startup financial metrics of: gross margin, inventory turnover, customer acquisition and retention rate, break-even point, and monthly cash burn rate.
