SPCH 100 Proseminar in Communication Studies

This course is designed to provide a practical and theoretical introduction to the study of communication, primarily for communication studies majors. This course should be taken at the beginning of the program.

Course Objectives

  1. Understand the variety of professional options that are available through the study of communication, and develop an individualized program that will help achieve one’s goals.
  2. Understand the basic components of communication study (public, group, interpersonal, and mass communication).
  3. Understand and demonstrate the basic elements of the communication process.
  4. Understand and demonstrate the basic elements of research and writing within the communication discipline.
