CARD-220 Cardiovascular Procedures

The purpose of this course is to prepare students to enter the Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory. Students will learn the concepts of the general diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures performed in the modern adult invasive cardiovascular laboratory.

  1. 1. Explain the historical evolution of cardiac catheterization.
  2. 2. Describe indications, contraindications and complications of invasive procedures.
  3. 3. Demonstrate the equipment used for performing an invasive procedure.
  4. 4. Describe each task involved in performing a diagnostic right and left heart catheterization.
  5. 5. Describe the equipment used in the management of arrhythmias.
