This course concentrates on in-depth, theoretical understanding of network security principles as well as the tools and configuration available. This course emphasizes the practical application of skills needed to design, implement, and support network security. This course prepares students to take the Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security (IINS) certification exam (640-543).

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Describe the security threats facing modern network infrastructures.
  2. 2. Secure Cisco routers.
  3. 3. Implement AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) on Cisco routers using a local
    router database and external access control server (ACS).
  4. 4. Mitigate threats to Cisco routers and networks using access control lists (ACLs).
  5. 5. Implement secure network design, management, and reporting.
  6. 6. Mitigate common Layer 2 attacks.
  7. 7. Implement the Cisco IOS firewall feature set.
  8. 8. Implement site-to-site and remote access virtual private networks (VPNs).
