PHIL-902 Yoga, Meditation and Krishnamurti

This course will explore some key texts in Hinduism and Buddhism that have guided both religious thought and practices surrounding yoga and meditation. The course will begin by clarifying the traditional approach to questions such as the nature of consciousness and its relationship to reality, self and the world, concentration and attention, etc. The latter part of the course will be devoted to the teachings of J. Krishnamurti who revolutionized our understanding of consciousness and offered fresh new insights into the traditional approach. (1 hour weekly)
