FILM-921 The Golden Age of Hollywood

This course will explore the classic Hollywood films of the 1930s and 1940s. This course will introduce the most popular narrative tendencies and film genres that were developed during the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema, from the rise and fall of the major classical Hollywood studios, to the definition of the key characteristics of seamless storytelling and the basic mode of film production used during this period. Major films and significant directors from this period will be viewed and discussed.
