ARTT-101 Two-Dimensional Art and Design

This course is an introduction to the theories, practices, and techniques of two-dimensional art, with an emphasis on drawing and design. The elements and principles of design, universal in the art of the past and the present and across all areas of art will be covered. The terms and concepts will provide students with the vocabulary needed to analyze the art of all cultures. The emphasis is on drawing conventions, visual organization, content, and composition that lead to the desired intent. Students will work in a variety of traditional media. This course will develop the analytic skills necessary to discuss the art of all cultures and to learn the strategies to succeed in the conception, organization, and production of unique works of two-dimensional art.
